Hi all,
I hope I am posting this in the correct forum. If not, my apologies and please let me know where to put it.
Here's my situation. I bought a used set of SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition software. The seller promised the software was not installed on any servers anymore and could be installed, registered and updated by me. The software arrived today. What I did not know before purchase was that the discs say (x64) on them. I am not running 64 bit platform or applications. I admit my knowledge of 64 bit environments is dismal. Can one of the pros here tell me if I am going to have a problem installing this on a Xeon Core platform? I've googled and searched and tried to figure it out myself but it isn't very straightforward to me. Thanks in advance for any help.
Thanks,
SQLFan

No. You will need a 64 bit platform and processor.

A 64-bit operating system is certainly required. Whether the Xeon processor is capable of running 64 bit software depends on which model it is. Older Xeons (pre-2004) generally can't, other's can. the key word to look for in the specification is EM64T. Processor specifications are available at http://www.intel.com/products/processor/index.htm?
