Comments posted to this topic are about the item Writeback OLAP Data

The question is about "AS2005". But the article that the explanation refers to is clearly marked as refering to "Analysis Services (SQL Server 2000)".
Can someone point me to a source that explains why writeback to a count measure is not allowed in AS 2005?

Hello Hugo
The explanation is valid also for AS2005 because I suppose it's a logical question (In any case I can understand the writeback miss for funtions as distinct count, but not for count), but unfortunately there isn't information about this issue. I'm trying to contact any Microsoft OLAP engineer for obtaining more information.

It has nothing to do with the logic. QOD should conform to correct structures. The question should have been about write-enabled partitions rather than cubes. 😀

Hi Hajm
I agree with you, writeback option apply in the partition scope. In any case I was referring to OLAP data and maybe I mixed both concepts without want. :Whistling:

Here's the link for 2005 which clearly says that the data must be aggregated by SUM.

It is all fun and good. We reason and learn and explore new things.

Thanks Markus,
An interesting link for explaining the issue. curiously ... The article titled "Use Cube Writeback" and not "Use Partition Writeback" 😉
