Would like to start my own blog but don't know how

  • Can anyone give me any pointers as to how I can set up my own blogging site? I would like to be able to post SQL-related topics and my own little discoveries in there and provide a forum for others to provide input as well.

That site will serve as my repository of valuable information on SQL server and related topics and will hopefully be valuable to others as well over time.

I'm completely ignorant as to how to go about setting this up.

Is there an easy, quick way to set up a blogging site?

    Any advice would be appreciated.

  • I set mine up just by using blogspot.com. Took about 10 minutes to get it up and running.

I think it's had all of about 5 visitors since I created it, but it's there.

Creating one is the easy part. Getting people to go there and do anything with it is where the real trick is.

  • In addition to blogspot, there is wordpress.com.

If you are looking to use it as a part of your brand, you might consider getting a domain and hosting the blog there.

Another place you can get a blog is right here through SSC. Just check the blogs section there is a subsection there for people looking to get a blog.

  • Another vote for wordpress and a suggestion for a blog post. Write about backups. It's a sure fire winner and people can't possibly learn enough about backups.
