winzip parameter in xpsmtp

  • Hi All

Iam trying to send out an email using xpsmtp. The process works fine. I had one question though how would I winzip the file and then email it? is there a xp-cmd that I can use?

    Thanks

  • the registered version of Winzip accepts command line parameters...which you could call from xp_cmdshell.

PKZIP/PKUNZIP is another program which can do the same thing. there once was a free verison of it (2.5), but you'd have to hunt for it.

  • You'd just compress the file before attaching it. There are a number of command-line compression tools. One we've used extensively is GZip (www.gzip.org).
