I have moved to a new company, and we had to perform a quick migration due to hardware limitations. The old Server was Windows Server 2008 Enterprise. The new server is Windows Server 2012 Standard Edition. The SQL Server instance on both is 2008 R2 Enterprise.
I am having trouble finding any discussions about how the Windows edition (Standard vs Enterprise) may affect the SQL Server. Another way of asking the question is: are we missing out on functionality/performance because we are running Enterprise SQL on Standard OS?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Clint

Windows Server 2012 Standard has full features, but only allows 2 virtual instances on a license. The number of virtual instances is the only difference, per https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/server-cloud/products/windows-server-2012-r2/Purchasing.aspx.
So it shouldn't affect your database at all.
