Hi i Installed Windows Server 2012 trial version for Sharepoint, to deploy BI dashboard. Unfortunately I chose the version without a GUI. Now it wants the appropriate command. I tried "Install-windowsFeature Server-Gui-Shell,... " It gives me"Install-WindowsFeature is not recognized".Any idea what the problem is? I appreciate any assistance.
I already had Windows 10 as an operating system.
Thanks
Anthony

- Mount the Windows Server 2012 ISO to the host." ?
- "mkdir c:\mount" is it: c:\User\Administrator>Mount OR c:\User\Administrator>c:\mount ?
1. You mount the ISO, the installation file you downloaded. So you can access it. You can mount it with powershell if that's easier - it just takes the next available drive letter.
Mount an ISO on a Physical Server running Server Core
2. mkdir c:\mount would be typed just like that mkdir c:\mount

Hi Sue
Thank You. I tried that i found that i'm still getting errors like "Request to add or remove features failed". Please see screen shots. The problem is im not getting pass this error.
I have since written the Server to a Disk. Please can you elaborate how do i reinstall or correct this problem now from the DVD/Disk, when i only have access from the command window?

Would it, possibly, be easier to simply reinstall the operating system at this time? If this is at an early stage, and you aren't familiar at all with using command line on Windows, you'd likely find it far easier to start fresh. Just make sure you select to install the GUI this time. :hehe:

Insert the Install Disc into the server and restart the server. If your BIOS isn't set to start from CD/DVD first (or at least before your HDD), you'll need to enter your BIOS change it so that CD/DVD is higher in the priority list than your HDD. BIOS keys and navigation is different for every manufacturer, so you should know what the commands for yours is.
Once the Server has booted from the CD/DVD, just install as normal. You'll likely be warned the server will be wiped, but you should be expecting that as you're doing a fresh install of the OS.

Yes. When you installed the Server on it last time, the laptop would have been wiped down as well.

In the state it was before you installed Windows Server, or a fresh install? If you want it in the state it was before, you'll need to have made a back up of your laptop prior to install; did you? If the answer is no, then your data is lost.
To install Windows 10 you'll need to find the Recovery media that most likely came with your laptop, or download it from the manufacturer's website. Then, like above, follow the steps.

I did not made a backup, a folder named "OldWindows" was created automatically. I don't know if i would be able to use this folder in anyway.
