Is it neccessary to enable AWE option on sqlserver 2000 standard edition(X86) which is running on Windows server 2003 Standard Edition X64 ?
As far as I know AWE option is required only for 32 bit system. But I am little confused in my case as OS is 64 bit and I want sqlserver 2000 standard edition(X86) to use more than 2 Gb ,As of now SQL is using only 2GB.
Any help is really appreciated.

AWE is for SQL Server and will depend on the version of SQL server you are using (32 bit or 64 bit). You will need to enable AWE to access more than 2GB in this type of setup.

SQL 2000 Standard only supports 2GB. It does not support AWE. If you need more than 2GB you will need to use Enterprise Edition or upgrade to 2005/2008.

I was searching for as reference, but can't find one. I believe Jason is correct, SQL Server, 32 bit, needs AWE to access more than 2GB of RAM.

Ah, good catch, jcncarter.
In 2000, only 2GB is supported for Std. This was a 2005 forum, so I wasn't thinking. Won't matter in that case.
