I am trying to schedule a ssis package thru windows scheduler; can someone let me know how to do it as i haven't used it before

You can make use of DTEXEC.EXE to schedule SSIS packages from the command prompt

You can also use the SQL Agent.

Use a SQL Server Agent job, as Scott suggested. It's more flexible than a Windows scheduled task, and it's a more intuitive place to put it.
