Hi All,
I have an option of running Windows 2008 R2 Standard or Enterprise on a new 64 bit server (intel Xeon E5520 2.27GHz (2 processors) 12.0 Gig RAM
I know there were advanages running 32 bit Windows for better\increased memory management.
What are the advantages for running SQL 2008 Standard on Windows Enterprise compared to Windows Standard?
Regards

I assume that you meant x64 bit, not 32 bit, when talking about memory.
Look at the comparison and see if any of the specific features of Enterprise are something you need.
In our case, version of SQL is much more important than version of the OS.

You get better clustering options, windows standard only supports a 2 node cluster, windows enterprise can support many more nodes which is useful for stretching a cluster to a fail-over location miles apart.

Thank-you gentlemen,
Much appreciated advice.
