If I win, can I bring my wife, and a curtain?
:ermm:
I may only be an "accidental" DBA, but I'm entering, if only for the chance to go for the ride...

What does the winner tell the boss?
"Hey I need a week or three off. Yeah I hope I have wifi, will have to check with NASA. I'm going into space. No, seriously. No Joke."

For the first 30 seconds, your boss would probably assume you're talking about storage, until you say, "No, I mean OUTER space."

A SQL query walks into a bar and sees two tables. He walks up to them and asks, "Can I join you?"

I assume this is on a Russian rocket? Can't catch a shuttle any more.

Most of the DBA's I have worked with over the past 30 years are already out in space. To think out of he box as much as they have had to and to perform as many miracles that have been required to make things work correctly they have had to be out there somewhere.
Love the idea of the contest!

haha - no doubt. I don't know that my boss would even hear anything other than "have" or "have not" got internet access and a number to be reached at. 😀
I'm sure that the solitude would be much appreciated by the winner! at least for the first few days... 😛

add to it some Nationals also excluded!
Talking about human rights 🙁
And why not all of the world, or do we, the rest DBAs stink or what?

Hi all,
just to confirm, the prize is an actual space flight that will be provided by SpaceAdventures, and take-off will be in the US.
With regards to the question about nationality and country restrictions, running this kind of competition is legally quite complex. Even though we wanted to keep the competition open to everyone, in the end we had to restrict eligible countries for legal reasons. However, everyone can take the quiz, and we hope that you will have fun with the videos. There will also be other incentives for participants and voters even if you're not eligible to go to space.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the DBA in Space team via dbainspace@red-gate.com.
I hope you've enjoyed the competition so far :-),
