I am wondering if I can avoid the bloat of the 2012 Visual Studio IDE and go straight to the 2012. I am downloading the 2012 integrated shell now to see.
My task is to create a BI Developer box with the following prereqs:
Office 2013 64Bit
Excel needs the following addins with Powerview, PowerMap and PowerQuery
Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
SQL 2012 Tools
SSMS
SSDT
I went to the 2012 SSDT page and it listed these prereqs but it did not say if it installed them if needed. I assume i need to isntall them first
Prerequisites:
Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5
Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 Shell (Isolated) Redistributable Package
Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 Shell (Integrated) Redistributable Package
Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for Applications 2012
Microsoft Report Viewer 2012 Runtime
Any thoughts?
