Which one are you working with? 2005 or 2008? I'd go for the one that you're activly working with, that you ave experience with.
As for admin vs dev, well, which are you? Are you a DBA? Are you a developer?

Hi
At present i am working with 2005 only having more Knowledge on Admin(DBA) than Developer so i would first go in DBA.
Whether i have to update 2005 to 2008 (in Exam point of view). If so i will take little time and work in 2008 and do the process
Thanks

You may have to write the two exams to become MCITP(MS SQL Database Administrator 2008)
Exam 70-432
Microsoft SQL Server 2008, Implementation and Maintenance
Exam 70-450
Designing, Optimizing and Maintaining a Database Administrative Solution Using Microsoft SQL Server 2008

Hello,
Yes if you will go for 2005 then you need to upgrade to 2008. It all depends on your job role whether you are development DBA or Production DBA.
For SQL 2008 DBA track , two exams 70-432 and 70-450.
I just passed this 70-450 some days ago.
