Hi everyone,
I have been considering certification also, although my employer doesn't want to help unfortunately =(
Just want to make sure I understand this correctly: to get MCTS THERE'S ONLY ONE EXAM???(70-431) and to get MCITP there are three exams??? (70-431, 70-443 and 70-444) ?
So the one to start with is always 70-431 and that gets you MCTS ?
On the version 2005 vs. 2008 argument, I agree with Robert. We switched from 2000 to 2005 about two years ago, but 2008 is not on the horizon.

Hello Mike,
Passing 70-431 is enough to complete requirements for MCTS : SQL Server 2005 certification
And completing other two exams (443 and 444) on top of 431 will earn you the MCITP: Database Administrator certification for SQL2005.
But I can suggest you to consider the SQL2008 certifications. You know the R2 version is already RTM.

Please, if you can rephrase your answer according to this
I am unable to locate the pre-requisites!
Thank you.

Hi Abrar,
Both documents have the same pre-requisites for same certifications.
They can be considered the same. The opposite can not be thought also.

I looked at that brochure also before asking this question, I must admit, it is very confusing.
If someone could clarify, I would really appreciate it.

You get the MCTS if you pass any exam. It doesn't have to exam 431. However, I agree that 431 is probably the best choice to start with. No matter which MCITP you decide to go for (DBA or Dev), you will need this exam. This allows you to get your feet wet in the certification testing without getting hard lined into a specific direction.

Dear Robert, thanks for your time
What i guess because it seems more guessing than actual confirmation, from the certifications path brochure
1. Exam 70-433 and then 70-451 for DEV
2. Exam 70-432 and then 70-450 for DBA
but here is no scene of 431 etc.
i had inquired earlier, that i am interesting in total all 4 (2 of DEV and 2 of DBA) Exams.
Is this would be wise and have any market worth action?

Hi,
70-431 is for SQL Server 2005 432 and 433 are for SQL Server 2008

For reference.
It also depends what you are using currently in your workplace.
