Which book to study

  • Hi,

I am new to SQL and are studying towards the 70-432 exam. Which book would be best to use between these two?

    OR

    http://www.amazon.com/MCTS-Self-Paced-Training-70-432-Pro-Certification/dp/0735626057/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1311768922&sr=1-1

I am aiming to write the exam in September, if anyone can please guide me a little

    Thanks

  • You'll want to start posting in the Certification thread to get answers. But just an FYI: No SQL 2005 exams are open anymore. They all closed in June. The only thing you can take an exam for is SQL 2008 now.

Edit: You posted in the 2005 thread, so I assumed 2005 and didn't see you're already studying to 2k8. Post in the certification forum. You'll get more help there.

  • Thanks, will post there. Yes I am not looking at 05, those books are for 08

  • I am currently working towards 70-432 too and have gone for the Self Paced Training Kit.

  • Ive used the training kits in the past for the '05 exams and they are great. Im studying right now for the 70-432 and im using the MCTS-Self-Paced-Training-70-432-Pro-Certification book. I would recommend that one. Make sure you take the practice tests found on the cd in the book. They are harder than the actual exam and will definitely prepare you for it.

  • Hi. Thanks for thr post. Are you talking about the second book of the two I linked or are you talking about something different?

  • I am talking about the second book you posted. That is a great book for this exam.

  • Thanks. Yes I've had lots of positive feedback on the training kit. Seems it will be the best option.

  • I would advise buying a general purpose SQL 2008 administration book and using the 70-432 study guide.

I have a guide to the administration exams being published here in the next week or two which should help give you some pointers.

  • I am of the mindset that you can never read enough SQL books to prepare. What I did was to pick a date as a goal and then immerse yourself more and more daily until that last week I was a fire breathing SQL slayer 😉

  • All,

Can you please stop replying to this thread and use the one posted in the Certification forums? That's the proper place for this discussion.

Would do but I'd like a link if you'd be so kind ;-).

  • OP, can you please provide the link to the discussion you said you would start in the certification forums so others can respond there?
