Maybe The Thread just took some days off to enjoy some BBQ. 😀

I guess there was too much talk about Bbq in the thread and it just walked away. Or it was highjacked by a vegetarian action group.

Maybe someone accidentally the Thread while cleaning up the weekend's spam (all 8 odd pages of it)
Yep. I'll post a blob about it, but long TL;DR, when cleaning spam, you can select a page of posts and whack them. For most of the forums, this has worked well on weekends since I (or any admin at RG) can look at the list, see the spam going from top to bottom, and delete them.
However I was doing this at the SQL Saturday, after prepping my session and killing a few minutes. The spammers started posted in the "Anything not aboutSQL" forum, and since all of you post so often, THE thread popped up in the middle and I didn't notice it.
Took until early am today, GMT, to get the restore. We use Rackspace and I don't have access or rights to request a restore from the RS people (it goes through some service on their side, CommVault), so I had to wait. I might have escalated it in other situations, but this wasn't critical enough to ruin someone's weekend.

Not sure about the negative points. I suspect it's related, but no time to dig in this am. I'll let the sync job run in an hour or so and see if that clears things up.

Points will likely come when the sync job runs. We have issues at times with points not recording for threads, so we have a job to re-calculate them based on actual posts.

I've seen points go negative when a thread is deleted, usually when I report something as spam. The negative points from The Thread haven't come back yet though.

Just kidding, thanks for all the effort done.

Now that's an attidude I wish other departments in my company had. That would save some nights sleep 😉

I'm kind of hoping this becomes the new thread. Yes, we'll lose the high count, but it won't have a title that might put people off any more. I don't know if less curmudgeonly is the way we want to go though.

You want this to becomes multi-threaded? 😀

Ah, all becomes clear. The thread wanted a companion, so it inserted itself between some spam threads to fool Steve into deleting temporarily it so that a new thread would be born.
