Hi,
Due to some internal restrictions (large history), we are still using SQL Server 2005, this week I have the good news, that we could **analyse** if possible to migrate to SQL Server 2008, our first duty is test our environment and if everything is ok, and everybody is happy, look for approval of the needed budget.
Please, could you advise me, for start where could I download a version of this product, we are not interested in SQL Server 2012 yet, we are only interested to test our environment in a more updated version of SQL Server.

I'm not sure about this, but you should think of migrating to 2012 for licensing issues. If Microsoft has removed the option to download it, it's very possible that it has removed the option to buy licenses as well.

Pretty sure you have to be on 2008 R2 or later in order to be on a supported version.
