Ok,
so I have been working with SQL for years and am ok at finding and learning on SQL but want to start developing BI solutions taking advantage of sharepoint.
What will I need to set up a sharepoint environment? Is there a version thats suitable for development in the same way as developer edition?
Any good idiots guides to sharepoint?
This is mainly as I want to get hooked into doing Poerpoint, Powerpivot, etc as well as PPS
Thanks
E

The free edition of Sharepoint called Foundation is crap for BI, you need the enterprise version:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh231680.aspx#bkmk_vers
Powerview is the way to go, self service BI but unfortunately requires the licenced edition. If you're just displaying reports skip Sharepoint and just use SQL reporting services.
Not sure about other office products, but start here http://sharepoint-tutorial.net/

Thanks for that. So if its full blown enterprise I am assuming that then needs a server OS underneath it so Hyper V will be the best way to go.
Cheers
