I know, we use VS for that, or Bussiness Inteligence Development Studio. But.
I see several packages in my IS connection in SS Management Studio. When I right-clivk them, I see NOT an option to EDIT these packages. Since I don't know where the .SLN files are, I wonder: CAN I change these packages? Can you only change packages from the .SLN files? That would be a bummer... I can change maintenance plans however. So do I miss something here?

Right-click the package in management studio and choose export. Change from SQL Server to File and then save the package. You can then open the package using File - Open in VS. When you close VS you will be prompted to vreate a new sln file. I would recommend saving with a protection level of protecting with a password so you are not tied to a particaular host for encryption.

Tnx for the reply, Joshua. I also received another solution: open a new SSIS project and then import existing package. Choose the server where the to be edited package is and import.
All in all it does seem a cumbersome way to edit existing packages...
Let's hope MS will include a start-up for VS when wanting to edit a package.
