I'm trying to figure out where the new(?) location for SSRS templates is... so I can create my own templates with all the standard formatting etc in it. I can do it just fine, but where should the file be saved to in 2016? In 2012, it was
Visual Studio 2010\Projects\MSSQLRS\Template
Where is it for 2016?
I found an old article by Microsoft on Creating Your Own Report Templates, which is based on VS 2010, but my directory structure is different for 2016. So where did those directories go?

Whether it works or not anymore, I have no idea. They have gone back and forth on this. They changed the "paradigm" as they called it to use a lot more extensions and whatever else. Got sick of reading issues and tweaking all the time - that's why I uninstalled SSDT awhile back. I don't have the time to download new version, tweak what it breaks, wait for the new one, install, have the fix but then have new things broken. It's got to be nonsense and too time consuming.

Okay, I'll try it and post back when/if I get it working with what I tried. Seems odd that MS can't keep this stuff straight.
Almost glad I'm not the only one that's perplexed by some of the stuff that MS does!

We just keep a copy of a report file named "_Template.rdl" in the root of our development folder, include a copy in each new project so we have a base to start from. That way we can use our standard header/footer/report styles from the database.
