Where is the best source to learn Profiler?

    Where can I learn the basics of SQL Server Profiler where it can give practical examples or can tell me if I need to capture database user add/drop event, use this object/event class or if I need to capture open transactions, I need to use this even class etc.

    most sql books have chapters on profiler, I imagine there's a fair bit on technet/msdn. The sql performance tuning guide ( for sql 2000 ) has a good chapter on profiler.

    The best way is to run some test traces. It all depends exactly what you want to capture and what for.
