What's the best way to setup an account for running backups

    I don't want an account with too much authority and setting the backup operator role on every database is not a good option. We need to make sure when a new database is added the backup user has the rights needed.

    I could script it, but if there is a better way I'd like to hear it.

    Hi, for new databases going forward just add the user to the model database as required and it will be setup on every new database as its created.

    Thanks, I never thought of that, I am scripting the rest using the addrolemember stored procedure.
