What Will 2017 Bring?

    I predict massive DDOS attacks through insecure IOT and recall notices on many of the gadgets we got for Christmas.

    I dread to think what a DDOS attack mounted by the bottle of port I got given would look like... πŸ˜€

    I also predict an increase in recruitment agencies describing their candidates as Data Scientist. A more accurate description would be Data Politician.

    I've been known to describe myself as a Data Archaeologist, given the age of some of the systems I've looked after; and someone described me as a Data Necromancer recently, after I fixed a SQL 7 problem. It would be nice to see companies being more honest about what they've got when recruiting DBAs...

    Several major insurance companies prosecuted over illegal use of personal data.

    This can very quickly get into criminal matters... I remember when I worked for a motor insurance company... but that story requires beer. Or a more secure communications environment.

    Donald Trump thanks President Putin for supplying backup copies of Top Secret US government data lost due to catastrophic government data blunders.

    ...and Trump will try to take the credit for it

    Britain still no clearer on what BREXIT means

    That sounds an awful lot like expert talk Gary. You need to be careful with that nowadays.
