What Twitter client tool do you use?

  • I was catching up on a month's worth of unread blogs, and read on one a Twitter client that was liked. I meant to tag it, forgot to, and now I can't find it. So, I'll ask all of you'll: what Twitter client tool do you use, and why do you like that one over others?

    Thanks!

If you can't explain to another person how the code that you're copying from the internet works, then DON'T USE IT on a production system! After all, you will be the one supporting it!

  • BWAA-HAA!!!! As your signature line says, I can't explain Twitter... so I don't use it. 😛

RBAR is pronounced "ree-bar" and is a "Modenism" for Row-By-Agonizing-Row.
First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.

Change is inevitable... Change for the better is not.

I've been using Tweetdeck for a quite a while on both my PC and my Droid. I tried it on the iPad, but it stank up the place.

I've been hearing noise that Seesmic has made a leap forward. I might try it out later.

  • I sat thru a Webinar on SQL server ; the presenter was raving about how Twitter was the best thing to learn about SQL, so easy to ask a question, get an answer, blah blah.

he then moved on to present some information about Denali.

He was constantly pausing his presentation as he read tweets from his phone, it broke the presentation up, as he'd have to try to go back to where he left off, and that told me right then how i'd never want to join twitter; I as embarrassed and annoyed for sitting through that presentation.

  • Twitter is great, but it's a social animal. The value of twitter comes from knowing other people on line.

You do have to manage it. It can't be the end-all be-all. Anyone checking tweets during a presentation is a crappy speaker.

I use Twhirl. Small, doesn't eat the screen like Tweetdeck. I like the simple interface.

  • I use tweetdeck for Chrome.

I recently noticed it shows the "conversation" of a tweet if you click to reply to it :w00t:

Still twitter is a forest with many birds.

Hard to pick a conversation or to catch up if you are several time zones away from the ones you follow.

I don't intend to use it on my cell phone, have no "i"-toys and it's blocked at the office.

I keep it minimized on my desktop because it is distracting. But that's OK. I work for an hour or two and then come up for air, look through twitter, answer questions here, then dive back down again.
