What to look out for when changing the 'SA' Password

    We have a need to change the SQL 2000 'SA' password on about 10 different physical servers. What do we need to look out for before changing the password? We know how to change the password but how do we determine the affect it will have of the the server if any?

    It doesn't have any effect on the server. It's code that might be using this account to connect that would break. If it does, it shouldn't be using this account to work anyway.

    Create a new account, assign it the rights it needs (not sysadmin) and then change the applications as you find them.

    FYI, you should change SA regularly in case it gets compromised.
