What is the OFFICIAL Microsoft response/fix to "Unable to load client print control" with reporting services

  • Hi,

    I have resolved the issue as below. There in NO need for any tweaking, its straight forward...

    You should have SQL Server 2005 SP3 on Report Server and Download and apply Microsoft Report Viewer Redistributable 2005 Service Pack 1 in your Application server. That's it all set..Nothing to do with the Client (User) machines

    thanks

  • Anyone find a way around this? Can't install unless you open IE with run-as as an administrator, or deploy the files silently with a system/admin account, but this is not a good solution either if you have multiple versions of SSRS/Print Control in house that is accessed (2008, 2008R2, 2012 and diff service packs on some duplicated environment servers). We have tried everything we could find to attempt to override and allow the active x control to install, but cannot find a solution for general users.

    Anyone have any new details to resolve this?

  • You have to be an Admin on the machine in order to load the print control, which makes this a real pain with locked down workstations. And this needs to get reloaded whenever you load the latest Service Pack...evidently MS doesn't realize many companies lock down their workstations, so updating this stupid control is a big deal.

  • Hello All,

    I have found the solution to "Unable to load client print control".

    1. Download and install Report Viewer from microsoft site.

    2. Go to Setting - Manage Add On - Select->All add-ons.

    (If you do not see RSClient in the list- Reset Internet Explorer and then repair Report Viewer option.)

    3. Double Click "RSClientPrint 2005 Class" and select "Allow on all Sites"

    4. If issue persists then add problematic website to Trusted sites and select Custom levels.

    5. Under Custom levels select Enable option under every ActiveX controls and Plug ins.

    6. Save setting and restart Internet Explorer.
