what is net change method

  • Hi friends,

I heard from my colleague that they have stored procedures return in sql server 2000. They want to modify those stored procedures in sql 2008 using NET CHANGE METHOD.

Finally they want to test new SP and old SP parallel and check net change method is working well.

    thanks in advance

  • This is not a standard phrase. I'm *guessing* that the sprocs would return all the rows affected by any actions it took. This is often easier said than done.. I'd ask your colleagues some more questions..

  • I'm thinkingh they're talking about the new SQL 2008 Change Data Capture functionality. I'm very sketchy on how it works in SS2008, so your best bet is to pop into BOL to read up on it.

There are some provided system functions for identifying the "net data changes", in a set of data headed to your BI system.
