Hi was recently offered a job for a SQL Server DBA position with a base salary of $80K in the Philly area. Do you think this is a good salary? I would really appreciate and expert comments on this.

Heh... if you're currently making $70K, then probably. If you're a good solid DBA that can mentor Developers and do some pretty serious performance tuning, then probably not. "It Depends". 🙂

the salary really depends like Jeff said
Most of that depends on the type of DBA that you are and if you are willing to accept that salary.

Thanks for the reply. I have not been in the market for a couple of years now and I wasn't sure of the trends in the field. Also, I wanted to get some clarity before I do some negotiation. What in your opinion would be the market average.
