We use to use LANDesk ServiceDesk, but if you couldn't keep the web spider running, finding calls were impossible. (Yes, it crawled the database with a web spider/index engine) Since the spider went down a lot, like every 5 minutes, with 30 to 90 minutes worth of work each time, we had difficulty finding calls.
Currently, we use TrackerSuite by Acentre. Their support desk tool is sufficient and the company is responsive. The beauty is the tie into their project management tool, time sheet tool, etc... It is geared more for a consulting, vendor type support, so for running an internal IT department, like what we do, can require a bit of map and gap.
The first line of code starts with coffee. The last line ends with alcohol.

We are using IssueCentre (http://www.helpdeskcentre.co.uk) and it meets all our needs.
Easy to get started, and easy to use. Has all the core functionallity you would expectet: Customer Portal, Tickets from Email, Knowledge Base, Assets ...

Well I have used HESK help desk software and I think its a best help desk software.
