I have Transactional Replication configured for a Database. Simply speaking its a Distribution/Publisher with 1 Subscriber.
My question is, when the Subscriber loses network contact with the Distributor/Publisher for whatever reason lets say someone rebooted the Subscriber Server and at the same time the Publisher makes some modifications to some data, does the Distribution Database hold onto the transactions until the Subscription Server comes up again?
Or does the Distribution server remove the transactions when it cannot make contact with the Subscriber?

The distribution database will hold the transactions until the subscriber has received it and will not remove it from the distibution database , your distibution database will get larger with the transactions waiting to be processes to the subscriber , take note that the option of subscriber expirying if not reached with in the time limit
