What happened to Copy Objects?

  • A very handy DTS option in 2000 was the ability to copy one or more objects - structure *and* data in one fell swoop. I often have the need of copying a small subset of tables (4-5 tables of 350) from one database to another - structure and data (and, no select ... into won't work becuase it doesn't carry over the constraints). I've spent half a day trying to figure out any way to do this in 2K5. The best I could come up with is a 4 step process that is very cumbersome. Any idea what happened to this very cool feature of 2K? Is it buried somewhere in 2K5? Hopefully? Any ideas would be most appreciated.

    TIA!

  • SSIS has a "Transfer SQL Server Objects" task that is similar.
