I am aware that SQL 2012 SP1 CU4 included support for "Power View for Multidimensional Models" but that this required an Enterprise or BI Edition of SQL Server in order to support DAX Queries.
I have seen numerous announcements that SQL Server 2014 now natively supports DAX for Multidimensional Model Databases (cubes) and that "Power View for Multidimensional Models" is now also natively supported ...
Question: Is this supported in SQL 2014 Standard .. or do I still need the Enterprise / BI Edition?
Note - I am talking about the SQL Analysis Services instance .. not the SharePoint SSRS components!

Power View is the SSRS/Sharepoint components, and no, it's not licensed in Standard Edition. The change in 2014 is that it's now compatible with multidimensional models.
The BI Semantic Model (multidimensional) within SSAS is available in Standard Edition, subject to the individual features listed here.

Perhaps my explanation wasn't quite clear...
I am specifically talking about the Data Source .. i.e. SQL Server Analysis Services
SQL Server Standard supports Multidimensional
SQL Server Enterprise / BI supports Tabular
As PowerView by default uses DAX this means that SQL Server 2012 Analysis Services requires the Ent/BI edition for the Cube .. even if you are using Multidimensional.
Is this still the same for SQL 2014?
Note - Yes I know you need BI / Ent to install the SSRS / PowerView components on SharePoint

Anyone?

You still need the version Enterprise/ BI Edition to create and manipulate DAX or MDX queries.

You need enterprise/BI for Tabular, but not for multidimensional.
The question is if you can use a Multidimensional cube using Standard Edition as a source for a Power View report.
I'm not sure if Power View generates DAX or MDX to talk with the cube.

PowerView generates DAX (or at least it does in the SQL 2012 installation)

Multidimensional models now also support queries using Data Analysis Expressions (DAX).

So it is very unclear whether a standard SSAS MD can support Power View or not.
I don't have Standard Edition, otherwise I could experiment.

I asked someone working at Microsoft, and he forwarded me to this article:
