Do they still do the 40 minute shows, or have they mellowed and now do full sets :D?My ears were ringing. A wonderful wall of distortion. They did a full set without the Reid brothers arguing. Shocking, I know.
Ha! I went to see The Fall for old times sake a few weeks back. Great if notably peculiar gig, but my ears were troubled for at least a day afterwards. I've listened to them since the 80s but only recognised 1 song, in the encore.
Think you might get to watch the Seagulls now they're looking nailed on for the top flight next season? I'll probably go down for the away leg of the Saints / Seagulls south coast derby having connections in Brighton.
A friend of mine says that he thinks that Mark E Smith has lost the plot (beyond where he was at before). As long as you enjoyed it, that's what counts. Annoyingly I had left some very expensive ear defenders at home. So far unused.
Definitely looking forward to see Brighton. Unfortunately moved to the midlands in the 90s but maybe I can be a good away supporter as they seem to have plenty of support at the Amex for every game.

He's definitely lost any notion of any plot he may have vestigially retained. He spent a lot of time seemingly randomly fiddling with some kind of mixing apparatus and a lot of time yelping incomprehensibly. The rest of the time he just glared malevolently, doing that scrunched face thing of his. The band were really tight though and played an almost Stooges-esque lock groove, and funnily enough the whole thing worked - I went with a non-initiate who liked it too, it wasn't just me (I'm not considered to be musically sane by my wife and many others anyway). Contemplating a visit to Alabama 3 at the end of the month - should be pretty entertaining!

That's an odd name for a UK band. Are any of the band members from Birmingham (Alabama)?

We have plenty of form...heard of Japan? [Cue loads of examples of English bands named after foreign places]

I have a whole list of things I do after work. Some of them are relaxing but others are for the kids. The ones for the kids have their own element of relaxation, or at least mental separation from work.
Coach two soccer teams. (U9, U13)
Cubmaster for cub scouts
Merit badge counselor for Boy Scouts (Music, Bugle, woodworking, programming, cooking, sports)
Computer games
Tabletop games
Sawdust (I am an avid, but not very talented, woodworker). I make more of a mess than anything else but I enjoy it.
See bands (my musical tastes are as diverse and scattered as my interests). Going to jazz fest in New Orleans next month and the last show I saw was Dropkick Murphy's.

My unwind activities seem to mirror several peoples...
PC games (Some FPS, some RTS, starting to get hooked on iRacing)
Weekends I'll sometimes go out to the gun range
Now that I've got the space, I've gotten into woodworking, built a few shelves so far, a "hobby board" for painting minis for:
Tabletop strategy games (Car Wars, Ogre, BattleTech mostly)
Getting to the movies on the weekends
Reading
And this spring / summer going to get back on my bicycle

This is going to sound weird but, I have been watching April the Giraffe. Surprisingly it really chills me and my wife out.
