What causes my log size to get bigger ? Difference btw dbcc opentran and Select * from sysprocesses where open_tran>0

  • Hi Guys,

Somehow my db log size was increased suddenly. This is happening very frequently recently. Is there any way to find out What causes my log size to get bigger ?

My second question is what is the difference between dbcc opentran and Select * from sysprocesses where open_tran>0

because when i first query dbcc opentran it says no active open transactions. After that i query select * from thing, it show some transactions(I check dbid as well so i am sure ). I really get confused here.I guess dbcc opentran shows old transaction that keeps log active or something like that.

My last question is how come logs can be active not in order. Because when i check out my logs i see this 00000222200002

If someone can clear me , i will be highly appreciated.
