Jasmine, congradulations on your new company. Before you start all kind of perks, make sure you hire the right people with good technical and communication skills and make sure they can work together as a team.
I once worked in a team, people had no skill and if they were jealous of people had skill, they talked liked they knew everything. When you don't know something, you can't pretend, people can catch your mistake immediately. Even the other department refused to work with them. I was glad I was just a contactor for that department. I left as soon as my contract ended.

Ah - the other side of the coin. Good point Andy!

Yeah that's why I made the point. You can have all the perks you want, but you have to deserve it. And then the flip side is that if you staff your place with folks who deserve it, they are more capable in the first place, but they are also happy. I know a lot of very capable people who are performing below their potential because they hate what they are doing. Probably the biggest problem is going to be that a lot of super-smart programmers have no people skills, and can't work on a team. It's the price of filling your head with all that computational ability and not leaving room for being human
I couldn't stand other people until I made the 'switch'

I definitely understand those very capable people who perform below their potential. I get to take those shoes off after next Friday. That's my last day in this position, and I'm looking forward to the happy and productive me coming out. I'm going to a position that I can be creative in (programming) and in an industry that'll keep me on my toes and interested (no more manufacturing!). I'm anxious about meeting my new teammates, but I'm looking forward to doing what I enjoy in a more creative atmosphere.
I definitely subscribe to the "happy employee leads to a more productive employee" philosophy!

What industry might I ask?
