I am interested in creating an intranet for my department at work.
We have some MS-SQL databases that we want to access from anywhere on our network (without logging onto the PC).
1. What is a good application (like FrontPage) to do this with?
2. What's a good book to learn this.
Basically, I am thinking SQL backend and a webpage front end.
I have some programming skills and pick up on new ones pretty easy.
Thanks for the advice!

1)I would purchase Dreamweaver for building a site, it's awesome and allows you to do pretty much everything (hate frontpage with a passion). You can check it out at http://www.macromedia.com/software/dreamweaver/?promoid=home_prod_dw_082403
2) Get the Dreamweaver bible, available from your local bookstore or amazon http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0764543504/qid=1085754622/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl14/104-0010679-5641526?v=glance&s=books&n=507846

Also, if using Front Page there are two good books,
Front Page Inside Out http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0735615101/qid=1085780084/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl14/102-1779313-4044117?v=glance&s=books&n=507846
Front Page Bible http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/076453582X/qid=1085780147/sr=1-2/ref=sr_1_2/102-1779313-4044117?v=glance&s=books
but in reality depending on your server software if using IIS5 or other IIS then you can use notepad as good as anything else minus the WYSIWYG some offer. Then it is a matter of reading any ASP books that involve using SQL Server if going from scratch or digging around the WWW in places like http://www.planet-source-code.com or http://www.aspindex.com and lots of other group discussion sites an newgroups.
