What are the tools to read SQL Server Transaction Log

  • in our company planning to buy a tool to read the transaction log. i need to choose one. Can any one tell me available tools to read sql server transaction log?

  • For what purpose?

Log readers aren't cheap. All the ones I've seen are around $1000 per licence.

  • To monitor the transactions. No matter what cost it is. Can you please tell me a list of Transaction log reader tools?

  • The only one I know is Apex SQLLog.

Why not triggers? Monitoring data changes is one of their main purposes. The transaction log is not intended as an audit log.

  • As of now i wasn't told for what this tool is for. My team lead wanted me to find a best tool to read T-Log and it's price. Once i came to know i'll let you know why he is looking for it.

Thank you Gail for quick response.

  • Also TOAD from Quest will read tlogs as well and allow undo's.
