Can any one tell me the what are the roles and responsibilities on sql dba?

well...first there's different KINDS of dba's...developer dba work with code objects, and tuning, Server dba's(well that's what i call them) work mostly with maintenance/backups and tuning

then there's the business analyst side, reporting analyst side and analysis services, not to mention the guys that use SSIS for ETL form other recources.

google would probably be your best friend on this, depending on the kind of role you are talking about.
