BTW, we've decided to go with a combination of party stuff.
We're donating some rainforest, purchasing 1mm sq ft of rainforest as a celebration. That's a nice charitable act I agree with.
We'll also give away 100 or so polo shirts to people and perhaps a few things from Amazon.

I say we have the piece of land clear-cut and we have a cookout there.
It's probably not far from a field full of McDonald's cows - we can eat one of those.

I get dibs on the filets! π
My daughter is voting for 1mm sq ft of sugar cane. She wants the white stuff, the stalks can go to bio-diesel!

Can a SQL Central "Rain Forest Cam" be set up so we can keep an eye on it?
I suppose we could all be easily fooled by a web cam pointing at a house plant if it's not in the budget.
...or at least get it marked on Google Earth...

Is the rainforest you're purchasing part of the Amazon, by any chance? π

I believe it is. There's a company that lets you donate for purchases. I'll get the URL and put it up here

So you're buying from 2 Amazons for the celebration? That works.

Nice move, great way to celebrate - by giving back. As for the "shirts and things", have you come up with any ideas on how you're going to award them? I've been trying to come up with a way that is fair, whether it's a "guru" or a "newbie", but haven't come up with anything that seems to work....yet.

For those metric-enableds out there - that's 92930 m2. In football fields - looks to be 21, give or take a few feet.

select Acres_per_Million_SQ_Ft = 1000000/(select SQ_Ft_Acre = (5280*5280)/640.00)
Results:
Acres_per_Million_SQ_Ft
----------------------------------
22.9568411386593204775
(1 row(s) affected)
For you English measure challenged:
5280*5280 = Square feet per square mile
640 = Acres per square mile

you gotta love SQL coders!
Michael came up with the acreage, Matt the football fields, so half a shirt each.
Unfortunately for them I am totally unable to deliver on that promise. π
