Maybe a daft question, but where can we obtain a *LEGAL* SQLServer 7.0 licence.
Preferably German language version, but not necessarily a must.
eBay a logical option, but we're wary of the legalities (see previous thread "SQLServer Licensing - second hand copies on eBay?" http://www.sqlservercentral.com/forums/shwmessage.aspx?forumid=9&messageid=113604).

I read somewhere that you can purchase windows2000 license and install windows NT4.0.. is that applies for SQL also ?

We had a case where we needed to install SQL 7.0 on and bought licenses for SQL 2000 which is (according to our reseller) perfectly legal. This is of course assuming that you already have a copy of SQL 7 that you can install from. Hope this helps.
