Hey ranec,
I have installed sp4 on only two boxes so far. One was a production machine that I was upgrading, the other a box that was in the process of initial rollout. I have yet (fingers crossed) to have any problems with either.

This server, SSC, runs IIS and SQL as well as a few other email software items. We instlaled SP4 about a week after release and it hasn't caused any issues as of yet.

Hi All,
I have personally seen two issues. The one pertains to Clusters specifically, and is basically that SQLServerAgent stops firing Operating System jobs.
I had to re-create the schedules that were affected.
The second also seems to do with SQLServerAgent, but I can't really put my finger on it. One of the server jobs reported that it was "EXECUTING", however, the process that it was supposed to spawn didn't exist. This also resulted in the job not firing when it was supposed to. After killing this job, the issue never occured again. So who knows.

ifx,
In regard to...

I'm interested in the problem, even though I haven't applied SP4.
Was it just a matter of re-establishing the schedules to get it going again?

Hi Mark,
Yes, re-creating the schedules resolved the problem. I have had no luck finding the exact reason for the problem though.

Yes. I am having one Win2K SP4 machine. I did not have any problems so far. Let us know if we need to look for any specific issues.

Four more boxes and no issues yet... 🙂
Have not yet patched any of the clusters though.
Thanks for the info ifx!

actually just got a win2k sp4 server dumped on me ... orders - install sqlserver 2000 sp2 with hotfix.
On the schedule problem, it was first reported in win2k sp3 on the KB. known issue.... the SP blows away the security hashs on the jobs and the schedules "disappear", but they are still there , hidden ! We had some stuff that was never found again,.,....recreate works. You can log as a full admin and see em all, but will have to restore permissions to the logon that owned them for each of them for that user to see em again.
I am looking for any backlash to installing SP2 sql server on SP4 WIN2k.. to move forward on SP I have to bring along our DIGEX host due to replication, and they are not on SP3a yet either....
