Virtual vs Physical memory

    What's the difference between virtual and physical memory? Is pagefile.sys called virtual memory?

    Physical Memory is the RAM that you add to the Server. Yeah Virtual Memory is the Paging file. It's an area on the hard disk that Windows treats as if it were RAM.

    Apps are first assigned Virtual Address Space (VAS) which is behind scenes mapped to either RAM or Paging file by the Virtual Memmory Manager (VMM).
