Hi,
I have a problem where I am not allowed Windows Admin rights to a couple of servers, which stops me reading the Windows Event Logs. I am the SQL DBA with the relevant SQL sa access, but because these are AD Controllers for remote sites, I can't have local admin rights.
What can be done to allow me to read the Event Logs without requiring full admin rights.
Regards,
Ian.

Are your SQL servers in their own Operation Unit? If so, your operations team can (?) push a policy granting you the rights your need to just that OU. We set our test-bed in its own OU for that very reason. Operations let's our development group stay in the local admin group on those servers, and nothing outside of that OU is compromised.

Becuase their also Active Directory controllers for the remote sites, there are no local groups.
Thanks
