My setup is as follows:
Machine 1: Runs publisher and distributor (Win 2003, SP1, SQL Server 2000 sp4)
Machine 2: Subscriber (Win XP, SP2, SQL Server 2000 sp4)
The machines are part of a workgroup rather than a domain. The publication is setup to allow annoymous logins.
When I try to instigate a replication (I'm using merge update) I am told the SQL Server Agent isn't running (which it is) and can't be notified of this action.
I have set the subscriber to run the agent at the distributor and when I use the verify agent option it says that the agent failed to connect to the subscriber. Login failed for user (null).
Both machines are setup for Windows and SQL Server authentication. I have tried every username/password I can on the pull subscription options and both startup service accounts are set to the local administrators (.\Administrator).
Any suggestions would be gratefully received. My apologies for the long post.
Thanks
Andrew
