I'm trying to create an SP
CREATE PROCEDURE [dbo].[usp_DBUpdate]
@DBName VARCHAR(5)
AS
UPDATE @DBName.tablename
SET fieldname = something
WHERE x= y
I get an error at the . after the @DBName. Is this possible to do somehow?

Sort of. You can build up a string, then execute it using Exec or sp_executesql, like this:
set @sql=blah blah
exec(@sql)
Parens are required in this case.

Perfect, You know I just spent about 3 days writing a massive SP that builds strings for execution. I guess I fried my brain on that one. Thanks for kicking it in again.
