SQL Server has this pretty cool utility now that allows you to monitor multiple SQL Servers. This is the SQL Server Utility through Utility Explorer. It sets up a utility control point on 1 server to monitor others. It also sets up a data warehouse. The only problem is... I cannot find any documentation on how to fully leverage the data warehouse in a cube or other way besides the what the Utility Explorer does on its own. Does anyone have any knowledge on this or know of a place to point me?

Hmm cool, i dunno been awhile ago i played arround with it. Correct me if iam wrong but i believed it was SQL 2008 R2 only.
and you could centralise policies and health status monitoring ect
But you re question is about how to get get the info from Datawarehouse. I dont use the UCP but i do use the data collection which are stored in the dataware house. THe info you can easily access by right click you datawarehouse -> reports -> Management Data Warehouse.

Marco is right, it is only for SQL 2008 R2 and the Server that its used for this must have Datacenter, Enterprise, Developers or Evaluation edition.

Interesting... I went there and the report came up, but it came up empty. All the servers show up on the control point with data, so I'm not sure what's next... I wish there was more documentation on this... Looks like the first topic for my blog once I get it up and I learn about this 🙂
