Hi,
I have a fixed width flat file with turkish characters like 'g', 'ö' and other special characters. the file is encoded in Utf-8(650001 codepage).
In the Flat File Conn manager in SSIS these characters show up with an extra character(like a dot) and since its a fixed width file the flat file componenet gives an error.
Data conversion cannot be done since data loss needs to be avoided.
Are there any setting in an SSIS package that i may be missing out on?? I need the data to display without the extra character.
Any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks
Aashna

The "Code Page" configuration can be found in the "Flat File Connection Manager Editor".
The default code page would most likely be that set for your OS.

thanks for the response paul...but then the code page settings are already set to 650001 ie utf-8 but then when i preview the data(columns) in the editor it shows up with an extra character...due to which the fixed width file postions change and it errors out!!

Sorry about the misunderstanding. What happens if you leave the Code Page to its default (1252 - ANSI Latin I) and Format as 'delimited'?

if i change it to incorrect data shows up and moreover i cant chane it to delimited because i am not using a delimiter as per the requirement we need to have a fixed width file!
