Use more than one data file(mdf)

    Hy,

    My database is of 80Go. What is the interest to have two or more data file? What is the avantages ?

    It can make queries run quicker. Look up .ndf in the BOL (you don't use additional .mdf files. You have one .mdf and several .ndf).

    Well, practically having more no of either .mdf or .ndf will increase your performance. The indexing will be quicker and if the files are on shared disk array then the disaster recovery is real easy and reliable. So on.... go for it..its worth breaking data files into units....
