Use different logical drives for data and log file

  • Guys, one more question. In an active/pasive SQL cluster how can I set up the Data and Log files to be in different logical drives. Is that possible when I'm installing the SQL Server 2000 or I can do it after that?

    Thank you,

    Adrian

  • Haven't found anything but this should not be an issue as long as the drive and path are available to the cluster. You should be able to set the path like any regular database setup when building the database.

  • When I setup my active/passive SQL cluster, SQL would only allow you to select one logical drive as the location for logs and data. This is confusing at first, but it's not a big issue. Just specify the location when you create the DB as Antares686 said. If you don't, SQL will use the logical drive you specified during setup as the default for all DB and log files.
