Usage Memory in SQL

  • Hello!!!

I had one SQL Server 2k with Windows Server 2k and in the last two days a go they started usage a larger quantity of memory.

I thought this happend because a slamer virus but after I did the update to SP 3a but teh SQL continuous using a must memory.

What I can do to done the memory usage is the satisfable???

  • SQL will take as much memory as it needs and balance itself with other applications, though this can be slow. The OS should manage this, but it might not work for you, or not be quick enough. If memory is growing in SQL Server, either the load has changed (and the SQL server wants more) or there is a leak, possibly due to some XP you have).

How much memory is on the server and how much is SQL using?

You can also set the memory SQL uses to a max (EM, right click sever, properties, memory tab).

  • Hi Steve,

I had this but they continue growup the memory higher than that I configure.

Because this I installer the SP3.

But before configure the memory to fixed in the 200MB and reserve this physical memory.

The continue using memory higher 400MB.
