Hi there, hoping you can help as I'm very frustrated.
Just renamed a server containing a SQL 7 database. Every time I try to start the MSSQL service it gives me an error:
'Error 1067: your sql server installation is either corrupt or has been tampered with, unknown package ID'
O/S is Win2K, Master and MSDB where copied accross from another server. I would really appreciate any ideas.
Thanks, Matt.

Had the same problem before. And as I remember, you should update your SQL Server installation as is mentioned in the Microsoft KB. Worked like a charm for us.
I haven't tried the fix that Microsoft proposes. If you do, can you post back your findings on it?
